TBFG - Start Here
What this publication is, how we invest, and where the receipts live.
Markets produce noise around the clock. This publication runs on a rude assumption: almost none of it will matter in five years, and the part that will matter can be checked with arithmetic.
The Boring Finance Guy publishes two things on a schedule, and keeps score in public.
Deep Dives. Single companies, and the occasional theme, run through the same toolkit every time. No hot takes, no price targets pulled from the air. Each one ends with a verdict and the exact price at which that verdict flips for TBFG.
The Weekly Brief. Every Sunday. The week read through one organising idea, sectors scored from −3 to +3, and portfolio actions for members. If an event will not matter in a month, it does not make the Brief.
The method
Five checks, in order, every time:
What kind of company is it? We classify before we judge — a Stalwart is not priced like a Fast Grower.
Is there a moat, and which direction is it moving? Pricing power is the evidence that counts.
Owner earnings. Net income + depreciation − capital spending. The cash the owner actually keeps, not the earnings the press release prefers.
The price test. PEGY below 1.0 is attractive. Above 2.0, you are paying double for the growth and income on offer.
Inversion. Before buying anything, we write down the three ways it dies.
A wonderful business at the wrong price is still a poor investment. Most of our work is waiting.
The three portfolios
TBFG runs real money across three mandates:
TBFG Portfolio — the main portfolio. Quality compounders bought below fair value and held. Benchmark: MSCI World / S&P 500.
TBFG Growth — Fast Growers held to strict discipline and watched closely. Benchmark: Nasdaq 100.
TBFG Norway — Oslo Børs names where we have home-field knowledge. Benchmark: OSEBX.
Closed positions are public, with entry, exit, return, and the analysis we published at the time — winners and losers side by side on the Portfolio & Track Record page. The live portfolios, with weights and flip prices, are for members.

The noise will still be there tomorrow. The arithmetic doesn’t mind waiting either.
